The services that are provided are tailored to fit your needs. You and your practitioner will work together on what the best treatment is for your specific needs.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the use of single-use sterile needles to puncture the skin. The needles are very thin, about the width of a piece of hair. Acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous, vascular, immune, and endocrine systems which helps your body create a state of homeostasis/balance. This balance improves health and the capability to heal itself. Acupuncture also helps release your natural pain killer endorphins, enkephalins, and stress fighting hormones.
Electro-Acupuncture
This is the use of an acupuncture specific TENS unit that causes a tingling feeling where the needles are. This is used to interrupt the pain receptor pathway causing a reduction in pain. It also can be used to decrease swelling and inflammation as well as re-educate muscle function especially after surgery.
Cupping
When a negative pressure is created inside of the cup it creates a vacuum-like suction when placed on the body. This lightly sucks some of the skin up into the cup causing small capillaries (blood vessels) to dilate and release blood flow that has been stagnant in the area. The release of stagnant blood can relax muscles and create more room for fresh blood flow to and from the area. Sometimes the release of blood from the capillaries can cause non-harmful and painless bruising that goes away in a short amount of time.
Tui Na
This is a type of manual therapy that integrates different types of massage, hands-on movement therapy, traction, and stretching. Tui Na can be a great way to relax the body before/after a treatment or increase range of motion in a specific joint.
Gua Sha
This is the use of a tool and oil on the skin to “scrape” along areas of dysfunction. Most of the time adhesions (small bumpy scar tissue) are found in areas of pain and tightness. The goal is to flatten out the adhesions to create a better healing environment. This technique should not be painful, though it can cause the skin to turn red or even bruise for a short amount of time.
Herbal Medicine
The use of herbal medicine is tailored to the specific needs of the patient. The use of herbal patented formulas come from cGMP certified sources and have extensive research behind them. Herbal prescriptions are not always needed but may be suggested for some circumstances.
